Albuquerque, NM – January 26, 2016 – WisePies Pizza & Salad®, A Family Pizza Joint, announced the kick-off of the company-wide WiseInitiatives Supporting Community program that will impact each and every community that has a WisePies Pizza & Salad restaurant. Each location will serve as a fundraising conduit to support organizations that provide food, clothing, shelter and services to the youth and families in our neighborhoods. The effort kicks off on Monday, February 1, 2016 and runs through Thursday, March 31, 2016. Albuquerque locations will benefit the APS Community Clothing Bank with Rio Rancho and Gallup locations benefiting Goodwill Industries of NM with a collective goal to raise $10,000 over 61 days.
“WisePies Pizza & Salad wants to make a real difference in every community we serve,” stated WisePies Spokesperson Season Elliott. “Thousands of students in Albuquerque and surrounding communities are in dire need of basic clothing like socks, underwear and shoes without which they cannot attend school. This need is increasing every day. 100% of funds raised will go toward making that difference in the lives of our youth, so they can get an education that every child deserves.”
“We are so excited about WisePies’ commitment to the APS Community Clothing Bank and the students it serves,” said APS Acting Superintendent Raquel Reedy. “Community partners are critical to improvement in public education, and we’re so grateful – particularly with this most basic need.”
During this time, each guest that visits any WisePies Pizza & Salad restaurant in New Mexico will be asked to support their community by donating $1 or more. In return, WisePies Pizza & Salad will give back a $1 voucher for each dollar donated to be used on the next visit and can be applied toward the purchase of existing promotions. Donations can also be made directly online at www.wisepiespizza.com through the link at the top of the home page. No purchase is necessary to make a donation in store or online. 100% of proceeds go to the designated non-profit organizations. Supporters will also be asked to write their name on a donation sticker to be displayed within the store for the duration of the fundraiser to draw additional attention to the effort.
Supporting media and development partners include KOAT Channel 7, Cumulus Media radio stations KKOB-AM and KOB-FM, iHeartMedia radio stations 100.3 The Peak, KZRR 94 Rock, 104.1 The Edge and Hot 95.1 and Obsidian – a Denver graphic design firm.
ABOUT APS COMMUNITY CLOTHING BANK:
Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) has a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization called APS Education Foundation. This foundation was established to promote private support of the districts and its students. In partnership with APS, they promote and garner financial and in-kind resources to provide students with the opportunity to succeed.
Specifically, the Foundation benefits the APS Community Clothing Bank. They make sure students in need of basic clothing receive socks, undergarments, shoes and coats so they can attend school and get an education. They have helped more than 4,500 children each year in need of clothing and shoes and have seen a 100% increase in need since last year. Students receiving benefits are handled discreetly with clothing delivered directly to the school they attend.
